There are approximately 540,000 people with autism in the UK - 433,000 adults and 107,000 children. The findings in this report reveal that children with autism cost £2.7 billion a year, yet for adults the figure is £25 billion - more than eight times as much.

This report, based on the experiences of over 18,000 children aged between 5 and 15 years old found that one in three (33 per cent) children with learning disabilities are likely to have a mother with mental health needs and nearly half are living in poverty (47 per cent).
