Sara's Story: What Kind of a Future?

Sara lives in South Wales with her family. She works four days a week for Mencap Cymru as a Partners in Politics Officer. She delivers presentations and training to schools and colleges, allowing them to have their say about what they want. Her job role means that sometimes she has to stay away over night.

On Wednesday evenings and all day on Saturdays, Sara goes to a dance studio where she does tap, ballet and jazz. She also goes to several drama groups and takes part in shows. When she has the time, Sara also likes shopping or going to the sports club with her mum.

Being with her family and friends and keeping in close touch with her friend Becky is very important to Sara. She enjoys eating out, going to the cinema and bowling. At home she relaxes by listening to music and watching Eastenders, Coronation Street and Neighbours. She has a person centred plan and has done a PATH.

Sara’s motto is “Down’s syndrome, so what!”
