Community Learning Disability Teams

The Foundation has a substantial track record of working with the NHS and local authorities to review and modernise community learning disability teams (CLDTs). Typically these reviews focus on:

  • The purpose of the specialist services that usually make up CLDTs
  • The roles of the different health professionals and care managers
  • Ways of working, including joint working across the different professions and joint working with mainstream and other specialist services
We have also helped commissioners to draw up new service specifications that reflect up-to-date purpose and ways of working. Such clarity is particularly important to ensure value for money at a time when all public sector spending is under review.
