Letter sent to The Guardian

3 March 2005

Dear Sir,

Recent research provides further evidence that autism is not linked to the MMR jab.

However, diagnosis of autism is increasing and so surely it is time to divert some of the attention towards families raising children who have an autistic spectrum disorder.

Recent research by the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities highlights the need for these families to receive high quality emotional and practical support, especially since the cost of raising a child with a disability costs 3 times more than raising a non-disabled child.

Let’s now empower these families with consistent services and resources that address their needs and those of their child.
