  • 11 Million is the interactive website for the Children’s Commissioner for England.

  • British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) is a membership organisation that provides information and training for supported employers and those seeking employment.

  • Circles Network offers information on how to establish a circle of support.

  • Council for Disabled Children (CDC) is the umbrella body for the disabled children’s sector in England. One of their current initiatives is called Making Ourselves Heard, which gives disabled children direct access to government and policy makers.

  • Connexions Direct Advisers can offer young people between 13 and 19 in England, information and advice as they move on from school and college.

  • Getting a Life was a project that ran from 2008 to 2011 to help young people with severe learning disabilities gain paid employment and live fuller lives.

  • In Control is a national charity that offers information on personalisation, direct payments and individual budgets.

  • National Council for Independent Living is a national support, advice and consultancy organisation that champions the rights of disabled people.

  • Participation Works is a consortium of six leading children organisations, that allows young people to be actively involved in the developent of the services that affect them.

  • The Site, owned and run by YouthNet, provides advice, information and support on all the key issues facing young people .

  • Trans-active is a project in which teenagers with and without severe learning disabilities work together. The project is about using and giving support, making friends and having fun.

  • Transition Information Network is an alliance of organisations, acting to improve the experience of disabled young people’s transition to adulthood. They also produce a magazine entitled My Future Choices.

  • Transition Support Programme is a national programme of transition support for disabled young people.

  • Valuing People Now was the national strategy for people with learning disabilities. As of March 2011 it no longer exists but information can still be accessed from the website.

  • Voice Ability provides training, consultancy and support, together with a range of materials promoting self-advocacy, for young people with learning difficulties.

  • YoungMinds work to improve the mental health of children and young people, their families and carers.

  • Young Researcher Network, run by the National Youth Agency, promotes the active involvement of young people in research and informing policy.
