Mental Health of Children
The emotional well-being of children is just as important as their physical health. Approximately 1 in 5 children will experience some form of mental health problem in any given year.
Whilst there is no formula to indicate which child will develop a mental health problem, there are certain risk factors that are more likely to increase the chance. Some of those risk factors include:
- Low IQ
- Communication difficulties
- Physical illness
- Poverty
- Family breakdown
The more risk factors a child is exposed to, the more likely they are to develop a mental health problem.
