The way you word your will is very important - we always recommend professional advice to make or change a will. If you need any help with leaving a legacy or want to find out more, please contact our Legacy Fundraiser, Stella Boulougari on 0207 803 1164 or email Stella.
The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities is part of the Mental Health Foundation (Registered Charity No England: 801130, Scotland: SC 039714). It operates as a directorate within the charity under its own brand identity and with its own Trustee sub-committee. For the purposes of making a gift in your will it is important to name the Mental Health Foundation as the beneficiary.
If you wish to support our work with a RESIDUARY BEQUEST (where we receive anything left over after your estate has been distributed among your nominated relatives and friends) then use the wording:
"I give the residue of my estate to the MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION, 9th Floor, Sea Containers House, 20 Upper Ground, London SE1 9QB for making grants to projects/research which urgently need funds, or to be used where the Trustees see the greatest need. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer, Secretary or other proper officer of the MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said Legacy"
If you wish to make a PECUNIARY or SPECIFIC BEQUEST (whereby you would leave us either a specified sum or an object of value) use the wording:
"I give the sum of (amount) pounds to the MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION, 9th Floor, Sea Containers House, 20 Upper Ground, London SE1 9QB, for making grants to projects/research which urgently need funds, or to be used where the Trustees see the greatest need. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer, Secretary or other proper officer of the MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said Legacy."
Thank you
