Research and Service Development Manager, Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities

Since 2005, Christine has worked at the Foundation on a research project about the experiences of fathers of children with a learning disability. She previously worked with the Foundation as an Associate on research projects examining the ‘Modernisation of Adult Social Care and Direct Payments’ and the ‘Impact of Person Centred Planning’.

 

In her work at the Foundation, Christine focuses on:

 

  • fathers of children with a learning disability
  • developing support for older family carers and people with learning disabilities living with older family carers
  • managing change within service delivery with a particular interest in day-time opportunities
  • service evaluations.

 

Over the past 25 years, Christine has worked in a variety of roles developing opportunities for people with learning disabilities and their families. She has also worked for a number of years managing mental health services and undertaking development work for a mental health organisation. Christine was previously a trustee for a mental health advocacy project.

 

Christine worked as a freelance consultant for a number of years, carrying out work for local authorities and national and local voluntary organisations, before joining the Foundation. She has worked in posts in the voluntary sector and in health and social services and has an interest in partnership working across sectors. She project managed the integration of learning disability services across health and social care in a local authority. Her development work has included supported housing, family support services, day-time opportunities for people with complex needs and service user involvement.

 

Christine has a BA in English Studies (University of East Anglia), a MA in Social Policy (London University, Goldsmiths College) and a Diploma in Management Studies (University of Greenwich).
