Senior Development Manager, Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities

 

Christine works with the Valuing People Support Team developing family leadership as well as with the Foundation. She previously worked as a Senior Development Manager at Kings College.

 

Christine has worked on person centred approaches and related tools for many years, both as a trainer and a practitioner. She has facilitated many circles of support and worked with individuals so they can lead an inclusive life of their choice. Christine has worked as a consultant for many local authorities and organisations to help them initiate and implement change.

 

She is currently involved in the following areas of work:

 

  • working directly with families and individuals with learning disabilities on individualised plans of support
  • supporting individuals with high support needs to move back home by developing and implementing individualised packages of support
  • research in various areas of enquiry
  • supporting the development of training and support to enhance inclusive education
  • supporting services to develop person centred practice
  • working with CAMHS to develop their work with young people with learning disabilities
  • supporting the work of the National Advisory Group on Learning Disabilities and Ethnicity
  • training and mentoring staff in developing inclusive practice, person centred planning and circles of support
  • supporting staff through action learning to focus on their work and develop their practice
  • training people with learning disabilities and families in leadership skills

 

Christine has also worked in senior management in other voluntary organisations, in research, teaching, training, policy and community development. She is a mother and an active member of her community. Christine brings with her many years of experience and passionate commitment to the achievement of an inclusive community and human rights. 

 

Christine has a BA Hons in Psychology, an MSc in Child Psychology and trained as a psychotherapist.
